Team Tasmania celebrates success in the festival state

One of the biggest Tasmanian teams ever to compete at the Australian All Schools championships has enjoyed a hugely successful weekend of athletics in Adelaide this past weekend (9th-11th December). The 73-athlete strong contingent had challenging conditions to contend with as the temperatures exceeded 35 degrees with relatively strong winds. However, this did not stop them from bringing their best out on the day and eventually taking away a 16-medal haul from these hotly contested championships. 4 Gold, 7 Silver, and 5 Bronze were won by the Tasmanian Team, and there was one meet record by Arielle Cannell in the U15 Hammer Throw. There was a total of 54 personal bests achieved by the 73 athletes on the brand-new track at Mile End, which showed how well our athletes approached the competition, and made the most of the conditions and their preparation for the championships. It is a clear indication that there is some great work being done by coaches in Tasmania, and that the sport looks to be in a strong position.

Outstanding performances across the board, and congratulations to you all.
