EVENT TECHNICAL REGULATIONS

 

This is the entry portal for 2020-21 Tasmanian Age Track and Field Championships to be held from 20 to 21 February 2021 and may be used by any age eligible athlete, including open aged athletes wishing to enter the open 3000m steeplechase for men or women.

Please carefully note the following (as well as examining the timetables for each championship weekend that are available at www.tasathetics.org.au):

(a) the "Age Championships" weekend [20/21 February 2021] includes most championships events for the Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 20 age groups.]. It also includes the open 3000m steeplechase championships for men and womenm

(b) the "Under 18/Open/Masters Championships" weekend [19-21 March 2021] includes most championships events for the Under 18, Open and Masters age groups.

Late entries (in accordance with the principles in the applicable Technical Regulations) will not be offered on-line. Contact must be made directly with the AT office in person or by phone or email.

  1. If possible please complete your entry on line. If this is not possible for you, please contact the AT office.
  2. All events shall be conducted in accordance with the rules of World Athletics, Athletics Australia and Athletics Tasmania.
  3. Please enter for each event by indicating the approriate event box and indicating your best performance since 1 January 2020. An  entry fee of $13 per event will apply - up to a maximum payment of $78 for each championship weekend.
  4. Entries will close at 10.00pm on Tuesday 16 February 2021.
  5. Late entries will be considered in accordance with the Technical Regulations.
  6. An additional Late Entry Fee of $13.00 per event will apply to ALL entries received after the closing date. Entries on the day of competition will be considered in accordance with the Technical Regulations. Late entries will only be accepted where acceptance does not require the conduct of an additional round in the event or the re-instatement of a cancelled event. Please note: Refunds will not be given under any circumstances.
  7. Athletes must be eligible athletes and must be age eligible as of 31 December 2021. In order to compete at these championships an athlete must have been born no later than 31 December, 2009.
  8. Athletes must be All Competition Registered members of Athletics Tasmania (or another Member Association of Athletics Australia) and be under the relevant age as of 31 December 2021.
  9. Provided they are age eligible, athletes may enter in the same or a similar individual event in no more than two age groups on this championships weekend. Should an athlete enter more than one age group, one must be the age group that relates specifically to their year of birth. An athlete may not enter two age groups of the same event when according to the published draft timetable they are scheduled to be held simultaneously. [Note that for 2020-21 eligible athletes may still enter either or both the U18 and open age groups even if they have competed in that event in one or two age groups on this weekend].
  10. Athletes may not compete in both the U15 and U16 age groups. Only athletes born in 2006 may enter in events in the U16 age group. Athletes born in 2007 (or later) may enter in events in U15.
  11. No athlete born after 2007 shall be permitted to compete in any track event longer than 3000m or in the steeplechase. An athlete must turn 16 years of age in 2021 to compete in events of distance in excess of 5000 metres. However an athlete aged 13 years on the day of competition may compete in a 5000m race walk championship. An athlete aged 14 or 15 years on the day of competition may compete in the 10000m race walk championship. An athlete must turn 12 years of age in 2021 and have received skill training from an accredited coach beforehand to compete in pole vault and hammer throw competitions
  12. Subject always to the further restrictions outlined above an athlete aged 12 or under on the day of competition will only be permitted to compete in Under 14 age group plus relays in older age groups (except in the case of athletes turning 13 in the year of competition who may compete in the under 15 200m hurdles, 3000m and/or combined event). No athlete born in 2010 or later may compete in these championships
  13. Athletes with a para-athlete classification and wishing to compete with such classification must indicate their existing or expected classification in the relevant box on the entry form. Para-athletes will in general where circumstances permit compete simultaneously with all athletes of their age group in each event entered.
  14. Event confirmation will take place in accordance with the technical regulations. All athletes and coaches should ensure that they are familiar with these regulations which together with the timetable, other event and policy information are available on the web site on www.tasathletics.org.au
